Ants come indoors for one reason, and it is almost never the reason people assume. Finding what they are actually feeding on is often half the solution.
Ants are not coming in because the kitchen is dirty. Foraging workers explore constantly and they are extremely good at finding traces a person would never notice. An immaculate kitchen with one sticky ring behind the kettle is a target.
Sweet things get the attention, but ants also take protein and fats, particularly earlier in the season when the colony is rearing brood. So it is worth looking for grease and food residue as well as anything sugary.
Once the colony is dealt with, wiping the routes down with detergent removes the pheromone trails, which is worth doing at that point.
We follow the trails to whatever they are feeding on, because that is both the reason they are indoors and the thing the treatment has to compete with.
The treatment is then placed on the active route where the workers will take it up in preference. You will know what we are doing and what it costs before we start.
Our current price is £240 fixed price, guaranteed. There is no call-out fee, and the figure is confirmed with you before anything is booked — never afterwards.
Our Ant Control cost guide explains what the price covers and what happens on the day, and every price we charge is published on the pest control price list.
The instinct is to clear everything away and scrub the surfaces. It gets rid of the ants for a day and leaves the colony untouched — and if it is done during a treatment, it removes the very thing the ants were meant to be carrying home.
