Cambourne homes are newer builds, so an inspection looks less for age-related decay and more for the gaps, service entries and garden features that let pests reach them.
During an inspection a pest controller checks which pest you have, where it is active, where it nests or breeds, and how it is getting in. In a newer Cambourne house the answers tend to sit in different places from an old cottage, so the checklist is slightly different.
The most common worry on an estate is the suspicion that a new house should not have this problem. It can, and it says little about the builder or the owner. Gaps appear as materials settle and as fittings are added, and the green space around many Cambourne streets gives wildlife a short route to a back door. The inspection simply establishes the facts: which pest, which gap, which fix.
It is also worth booking before you start sealing things yourself, because blocking a hole with an animal still inside can make matters worse.
A modern house is better sealed than a Victorian terrace, but not sealed. Builders need holes for pipes, cables, extractor ducts and boiler flues, and the gaps left around them are often the exact route in. Estates built around lakes and green corridors also put gardens, hedging and open land close to back doors.
You get a written account of the species, the extent of the activity, where it is living, and the access points we found, with photographs where something is worth showing. It also says what treatment, if any, is appropriate, what proofing is worth doing and in what order, and when the answer is a builder or plumber rather than us.
An inspection tells you what is there on the day. It will not guarantee a Cambourne home stays pest-free afterwards, and it will not diagnose a problem that has gone quiet. If the cause is intermittent, we will suggest what to watch for.
