Peterborough has everything from flats and terraces to new estates and commercial units, so an inspection is scoped to the type of premises and the question being asked.
The checks in a pest inspection are consistent: the pest, the extent, the harbourage, the access points and the contributing factors. What varies is where they lead. In a city as large as Peterborough, with flats, terraces, newer estates and commercial premises, the practical approach differs by premises.
Because Peterborough covers so many kinds of building, two inspections can look very different. A top-floor flat may take a quick look at the unit and its ducting, while a detached family home on a newer estate involves the loft, garage and garden. A small commercial unit might centre on its waste area and rear door. Tell us which one yours is and we will plan the visit around it, so the report answers the question you actually have.
If you are not sure which category you fall into, just describe the building and we will advise.
Here the technician looks at the unit, but also at what it shares: communal bin stores, service risers, ducting, shared loft or basement spaces. Activity in one flat may have its source elsewhere in the block. We record that pattern, and the report is something you can pass to the managing agent or landlord.
Newer homes are tighter but have their own weak spots: service penetrations, boxed-in pipework, garage doors and sections of roofline that were closed up quickly. Gardens are often small with fences close to the walls, so boundary gaps matter.
For a shop, unit, food outlet or office, the question usually includes a record. We look at storage, waste areas, loading doors, drains and any place that food, water and shelter meet, and the report documents the position at the date of the visit for your own files. If you hold specific regulatory duties, check what your own scheme requires of the documentation, as the survey is not a certification.
If the cause belongs to another trade, such as drainage or building repair, the report says so rather than recommending a treatment you do not need.
A Peterborough inspection and survey is £120 fixed, with the price confirmed first and no call-out fee. See the cost guide for what it includes and the main inspection page for the service overview.
