The same nest, treated in May or treated in August, is two very different jobs to be standing next to. The date is the variable, and it moves fast.
BPCA describe the arc in two sentences. In early spring you might encounter a wasps' nest the size of a golf ball. And as the summer goes on, a nest can contain thousands of wasps and easily get to the size of a beachball, if left to grow.
A single queen hibernates over winter and makes a nest in spring in which to lay her eggs. From there it compounds: by the summer months BPCA describe nests working overtime, with up to 300 eggs produced every day and up to 5,000 adults feeding grubs and building the structure.
The nest itself is made of chewed wood and saliva worked into a papier-mâché material, which is why it looks like grey paper and why it is so much lighter than it looks.
We locate the entrance, clear the area and treat at the entry point so the colony carries the treatment in itself.
The price is the same whenever in the season you call. What we will do and what it costs are settled before the booking.
Our current price is £90 fixed cost, fully guaranteed. There is no call-out fee, and the figure is confirmed with you before anything is booked — never afterwards.
Our Wasp Nest Removal cost guide explains what the price covers and what happens on the day, and every price we charge is published on the pest control price list.
Leaving it because it is small is the common decision and it is a poor one. Nothing about a nest gets easier as the summer goes on, and the version you deal with in August is a great deal larger than the one you looked at in May.
