Commercial Rodents
A business with rats or mice needs more than a treatment. It needs the activity stopped, the route in found, and a clear record of what was done. Every site is quoted individually after we have seen it.
Rodents in commercial premises are a different problem from rodents at home. There is stock to protect, staff and customers to think about, and for any business handling food there is a legal duty to keep pests out. The work itself is similar. The planning around it is not.
Food businesses have a legal duty to keep pests out of their premises. That covers restaurants, cafés, takeaways, pubs, food shops, manufacturers and anywhere food is stored or prepared. In practice it means having measures in place to stop pests getting in, acting promptly when there are signs of them, and being able to show what you have done.
Other businesses do not carry that specific duty, but an office, workshop or warehouse with rats still has to think about damage to stock and wiring, the condition of staff areas and the effect on anyone who works there.
We begin with a survey of the whole site, not just the room where the rat was seen. For a kitchen that means behind and under equipment, service ducts, dry stores, bin areas and the yard. For a warehouse or unit it means loading doors, racking, the perimeter, drainage and any voids above ceilings or under floors.
Treatment goes into secured, tamper-resistant positions away from food and from anyone who might touch them. Before anything is put down we explain what is being used, where it is, and what staff need to do, and we ask that those instructions are passed on and followed. Rodent work almost always needs follow-up visits, because rats in particular are cautious around anything new.
Businesses are quoted per site. A single shop unit and a multi-bay warehouse are not the same job, and a price that pretended otherwise would be wrong for one of them. We survey, tell you what we found and what we recommend, and give you the figure before any work is booked. There is no call-out fee.
Our published rat control price is for domestic properties, and the full pest control price list shows every domestic price, so you can see how we charge. If you are not yet sure what you are dealing with, a pest inspection and survey is a sensible first step for a business too.
Treatment deals with the rodents that are there. What happens on site day to day decides whether more arrive.
Once activity has stopped, the gaps that let rodents in can be sealed with metal-based materials they cannot chew through. Our rat control service and mice control service pages describe the treatment side. For sites with a wider range of pests, our posts on pest control for warehouses and cockroach control for businesses may also help.
Nobody wants a pest problem discussed in front of customers. We can arrange visits outside trading hours where that suits the site, and we talk to the person responsible rather than to whoever happens to be on the counter. Tell us what works for you when you call on 01223 902388.
The treatment clears the rodents. The site routine decides whether they come back.
Tell us what you have found and where. We confirm the treatment and the price before anything is booked.
