St Neots
We cover St Neots and Eynesbury for carpet moth and carpet beetle treatment at the same price as everywhere else: £220 for the first room, plus £60 for each additional room. The most useful thing you can do before calling is a proper look round, because the number of affected rooms sets the price.
St Neots is a market town on the River Great Ouse in Huntingdonshire, and we cover all of it, including Eynesbury on the south side of the river. There is no separate St Neots page on this site: the carpet moth and carpet beetle control page describes the service in full, and our Huntingdon and Buckden pages cover neighbouring areas.
There is no call-out fee. We tell you the room count and the total before anything is booked, and the figure does not change once we are there unless you ask us to treat more.
Twenty minutes with a torch will tell you more than any product label. Hold the torch low so the light runs across the carpet rather than down onto it — grazed pile and silk show up far better that way.
Look under the bed, especially at the head end against the wall, and along the skirting behind the bedside tables. Open the wardrobe, take out a few items from the back of the rail, and look at the wardrobe floor for cases, fluff and fibre that has been chewed loose.
Tilt the sofa and armchairs and look at the carpet beneath them. Lift each corner of any rug and check both the rug's underside and the floor it covers. Check the strip of carpet behind the door, which is rarely walked on.
Quiet rooms are where infestations often start, because nobody disturbs them. Check the edges, under any furniture, and anything stored on the floor.
Open any boxes or bags of wool clothing, blankets, cushions or rugs. Stored textiles sitting untouched in the dark are an ideal place for larvae to build up.
Check the back edge of each tread and the carpet along the landing skirting. Halls, landings and stairs are not counted as rooms in the price, but tell us if you find damage there.
If you are not sure it is moths at all, our carpet moth identification guide shows what to look for, including the signs that point to carpet beetle instead.
Once the room count is agreed, we give you preparation instructions. The main one is a slow, thorough vacuum of the affected rooms — edges, under furniture and along the skirting — with the bag or canister emptied outside straight afterwards. Clothes and textiles from affected wardrobes are washed hot, frozen or dry-cleaned by you, and kept sealed until the room is done.
On the day, we check the rooms against what you told us, then treat the edges, the areas under furniture and the places larvae shelter. Before we start, we tell you what is being used, where, when the rooms can be used again and what to do with pets. Follow those instructions; if you have a concern about a pet, speak to your vet.
Every treatment is guaranteed: if the problem comes back within 14 days of treatment, we return and re-treat free of charge. For what to do yourself in the meantime, read how to get rid of carpet moths.
One affected room is £220. Two rooms is £280 and three is £340, because every room after the first adds £60. The same price covers carpet beetle, and it is the same in St Neots as in Cambridge. Our carpet moth treatment cost guide explains what the price includes.
Tell us what you have found and where. We confirm the treatment and the price before anything is booked.
