Fulbourn Mice
Plenty of mouse problems in a Fulbourn home can start with a few well-placed traps. The time to call a professional is when the evidence keeps coming back, spreads, or reaches the wiring.
Fulbourn is a village just east of Cambridge, and we cover it from our Cambridge base at the same price as the city. There is no Fulbourn page on this site; our mice control service covers the village along with the rest of the area.
This post is about a practical question: when is a mouse problem something you can deal with yourself, and when is it worth paying someone? And if you do call us, what are you paying for that a trap does not do?
If you have seen one mouse, found a few droppings in one place, and it started recently, it is reasonable to try snap traps first. Use several, set along the wall where the evidence is, and check them every day. Clear the droppings with gloves on so you can tell if new ones appear.
Our guide to controlling mice in your home sets out how to do that properly, including what not to waste money on.
The most useful thing we bring is not the treatment, it is the survey. We look at the whole building, inside and out, to find where the mice are living and how they are getting in. The place you see a mouse is often a long way from the place it entered.
Treatment goes in protected locations on the routes the mice are using. We tell you what is used, where, when rooms can be used as normal and what to do with pets. Follow those instructions, and speak to your vet about any particular concerns for an animal.
Follow-up visits check activity and remove what has been caught. We sign off when the evidence has stopped, not when it looks quieter for a night.
Traps deal with the mice you can reach. A survey deals with the ones you have not met yet.
Village homes often come with a garage, a shed, a workshop or a summer house, and these give mice shelter close to the house. Bird seed, pet food and garden produce stored in them are an easy food supply.
Move bird seed and pet food into metal bins with lids. Keep stored items off the floor and away from the walls so you can see behind them. Check the base of the garage door and any gaps where services enter. If a garage is attached to the house, treat it as part of the house, because mice will not see a difference.
Mice climb well and travel through cavities and along pipe and cable runs, so a problem that starts at ground level can end up in the loft. Night-time scratching overhead is often mice; heavier daytime running is more likely a squirrel, and our post on squirrels in the loft covers that.
Mice control is £260 in Fulbourn, with no call-out fee and the price confirmed before anything is booked. Every treatment is guaranteed: if the problem comes back within 14 days of treatment, we return and re-treat free of charge. The mice control cost guide explains what that covers.
If you want us to close the gaps afterwards, rat and mice proofing is £180 for up to 1 hour, and any further time is quoted before it is carried out. The nearest static page is mice control in Great Shelford, which describes the same service. Call 01223 902388.
Tell us what you have found and where. We confirm the treatment and the price before anything is booked.
