Bed Bug Control • Duxford
“Bed bug” is a misleading name. They harbour a good deal further from the bed than most people search, which is why a self-inspection so often comes back clear.
BPCA puts it plainly: despite the name, they are not limited to the sleeping area. The published list of harbourage includes crevices in the surrounding furniture, behind skirting boards, under loose wallpaper, behind pictures — and even in plug sockets.
That last one surprises people, and it explains why an infestation can persist after a bed has been thoroughly treated or replaced.
Which is also why the room count is our judgement on inspection rather than something to negotiate down. Undercounting to make a quotation look better would not be doing you a favour.
We search outwards from the bed rather than at it, because the harbourage is routinely in the surrounding furniture, the skirting and the wall fittings.
Treatment then goes into those crevices. The treatment and the cost are set out before we book you in.
Our current price is £220 first room, +£80 per additional room. There is no call-out fee, and the figure is confirmed with you before anything is booked — never afterwards.
Our Bed Bug Control cost guide explains what the price covers and what happens on the day, and every price we charge is published on the pest control price list.
A self-inspection that comes back clear usually means the search stopped at the mattress. That is a small part of where they live, and treating only what you found leaves the rest.
