Damage is the other reason to inspect: if you can see what was done in your March home but not what did it, the culprit decides the treatment.
An inspection is better than guessing when you can see damage and cannot name its cause. Chewed packets, holes in wool and flattened insulation each point in a different direction, and the treatments differ.
The same pattern in a March terrace and a newer estate house can have different causes, so the damage alone is not enough.
Take holes in a woollen jumper found in a wardrobe. It is easy to assume moths and buy a spray. If the real issue is carpet beetle larvae living in a hidden pile of fluff under the bed, the spray misses it. Our carpet moth and beetle treatment is £220 for the first room, so a wrong guess is not cheap.
The inspection & survey in March is £120 fixed, and there is no call-out fee. We look for:
It ends with a written report, photographs where useful and a treatment recommendation with its price. More is on the cost guide.
March sits on the edge of the Fens, with farmland near some of its estates. Outbuildings and garages can be a route in for rodents, but we will not tell you a property is at risk because of where it is. We look at the building in front of us.
If you have seen a mouse or caught a moth in the act, there is nothing to identify. Book the treatment, which for mice is £260.
It records the position on the day and what could be reached. Damage that is old may not tell us what is active now, and the report will say so.
One more point on timing. Damage often outlasts the animal that caused it. Gnawing that happened last winter looks identical to gnawing that happened last night. A survey looks for fresh signs as well as old, such as clean runs, new droppings and active nesting material, so you know whether you are dealing with a current problem or a historic one. That distinction alone can save you a treatment.
If you are in March and have found damage you cannot explain, call 01223 902388 or send photos by WhatsApp.
