The damage is never in the middle of the room. Knowing exactly where to look turns a vague worry into five minutes with a torch.
Larvae need to be left alone. They feed where the carpet is undisturbed, which means the places nobody walks and nobody looks.
The Natural History Museum's list of where they thrive is precise: behind skirting boards, in the pile of woollen carpets particularly close to the skirting, in fibres and organic dust between floorboards, and in the vicinity of cobwebs.
This is also why the room count is decided on inspection. A room that looks untouched can be quietly going at the edges, and treating one room of a two-room problem is how a job gets done twice.
We search the undisturbed areas — edges, under furniture, behind doors — because that is where larvae feed and where the extent is decided.
Treatment then goes into those areas. You will know what we are doing and what it costs before we start.
Our current price is £220 first room, +£60 per additional room. There is no call-out fee, and the figure is confirmed with you before anything is booked — never afterwards.
Our Carpet Moth & Carpet Beetle Control cost guide explains what the price covers and what happens on the day, and every price we charge is published on the pest control price list.
Treating the open floor is treating the part that was never affected. Larvae feed where nothing moves, which is precisely where a quick DIY application does not reach.
