Removing carpet moth larvae from a Wisbech home means working out how many rooms are affected, because that decides the clean-up you need and the fixed price of treatment.
A useful way to approach carpet moth larvae is to count rooms. It tells you how big the job is, whether it is manageable by hand, and what treatment would cost. Here is a worked example.
Take a terrace in Wisbech with a front room, a back room, two bedrooms and a landing. You notice a bare patch under the sofa in the front room. That is room one. A look under the bed in the spare bedroom shows silk cases and webbing along the skirting, so that is room two. The landing carpet looks fine, but pulling a rug aside reveals grazing underneath. That is room three.
The lesson is that the rooms you have noticed are rarely all the rooms involved. Larvae feed where nobody walks.
Older Wisbech houses, including the terraces and the Georgian buildings around the Brink, often have wooden floors, rugs and long-held wool blankets, so allow time to check them.
| Rooms affected | Total |
|---|---|
| 1 room | £220 |
| 2 rooms | £280 |
| 3 rooms | £340 |
| 4 rooms | £400 |
The first room carries the survey, set-up and travel. Each extra room is treatment time alone. In our example the total would be £340, agreed before booking, with no call-out fee. Our Wisbech carpet moth control explains the service, and the cost guide covers the detail.
It can look odd that the first room is £220 and the next only £60. The first visit includes the survey of the whole property, the set-up and the travel to Wisbech. After that, the extra rooms are treatment time only. If you are close to a decision between two and three rooms, it is worth checking the third carefully, because the extra is modest.
We would rather count honestly than treat a room that is fine, so we confirm which rooms are active before quoting.
The price covers treatment, not repairing the damage. A badly grazed carpet may need replacing, and that is a separate decision. Treatment stops the larvae from doing more damage.
If the problem returns within 14 days, we re-treat free. To talk through your own count of rooms, call 01223 902388 or message us on WhatsApp.
