Flea Control Cambourne

Why a flea treatment is not instant, and why still seeing fleas three days later is the process working rather than failing.

Signs You May Need Flea Control in Cambourne

  • Small dark insects that jump, usually noticed on carpet or ankles
  • Itchy bites concentrated around the ankles and lower legs
  • A pet scratching more than usual, or biting at the base of the tail
  • Flea dirt in the pet's coat or bedding — specks that smear rusty red
  • Activity continuing after the pet has been treated
Not sure what you are dealing with? A pest inspection and survey is £120 fixed cost and identifies the pest, the extent and the access points before you commit to a treatment.

The Cocoon, and Why It Takes a Few Days

The pupal stage is what makes fleas different from most of what we treat. The developing flea spins a cocoon in the carpet pile, and that cocoon is protective — sticky, camouflaged with debris, and substantially resistant to insecticide.

So no treatment can kill everything in a property on the day it is applied. What it does is make the carpet lethal to anything that emerges.

What brings them out

BPCA describe it precisely: once fully developed, the adult waits within the cocoon until it detects the vibrations caused by a person or animal, and can also detect pressure, heat, noise or carbon dioxide from potential hosts.

In other words, it waits for something to walk past. Which is the whole reason for the aftercare instruction people find strangest.

So use the rooms normally afterwards. Your footfall is the signal that brings the remaining fleas out of their cocoons and onto the treated carpet. Shutting the room up does not protect you — it just delays them until the treatment has stopped working.

That is why you should expect to see the occasional flea for several days after a treatment. It is one that has just emerged onto a surface that will deal with it, not evidence that nothing happened.

What you must not do in that period is vacuum or wash the carpet — see our aftercare page for why that matters as much as it does.

How We Approach Flea Control in Cambourne

We treat the floor coverings and furnishings so that the carpet becomes lethal to anything emerging from a cocoon over the following days.

We tell you what to expect and over what period, because seeing a flea afterwards is normal and worth knowing about in advance. You will know what we are doing and what it costs before we start.

How Much Does Flea Control Cost in Cambourne?

Our current price is £220 first room, +£60 per additional room. There is no call-out fee, and the figure is confirmed with you before anything is booked — never afterwards.

Our Flea Control cost guide explains what the price covers and what happens on the day, and every price we charge is published on the pest control price list.

Why Cambourne Property Owners Call a Professional

A supermarket spray kills what it touches on the day. It leaves the protected pupal stage entirely intact, which is why the problem reappears within a fortnight and people conclude the product did not work.
