Fleas are the pest that most often turns up between tenancies, and the void period is both the easiest time to deal with them and the worst time to leave them.
A tenant with a pet moves out. The property stands empty for a fortnight. The new tenant moves in and is bitten within a day.
That sequence is so common it is worth planning for rather than reacting to, and the reason it happens is the cocoon: with nobody in the property nothing triggers emergence, so developed fleas accumulate and wait.
If you have moved into a property and been bitten within days, that is very unlikely to be anything you brought with you. Tell the landlord or agent promptly and in writing — and tell them when the bites started, because the timing is the evidence.
We are happy to speak to a landlord, an agent or a managing company directly about what a treatment involves.
We work around access, including between tenancies, and document what was found and which rooms were treated.
Treatment covers the affected rooms in full. We explain what we are using and what it costs before the work is arranged.
Our current price is £220 first room, +£60 per additional room. There is no call-out fee, and the figure is confirmed with you before anything is booked — never afterwards.
Our Flea Control cost guide explains what the price covers and what happens on the day, and every price we charge is published on the pest control price list.
In a rental an undocumented DIY attempt leaves nobody able to show what was found or what was done, which is precisely the point that becomes contentious over a deposit.
