Getting the animal out finishes the pest control job. It does not finish the problem, because of what has been left behind up there.
BPCA's damage list ends with the one people think about least: grey squirrels contaminate cold water tanks and the attic space with urine and droppings.
Older properties frequently have an open or poorly covered cold water storage tank in the loft. A contaminated tank is a problem in its own right, and an animal that has died in one is a considerably larger problem.
Insulation that has been torn up, compacted for nesting and soiled has stopped doing the job you bought it for. Replacing the affected area is usually straightforward and usually worth it, and it is one of the few pest jobs where the clean-up has a measurable payback in heating.
Once the roof space is confirmed clear, the access points get closed — metal, not filler — at £180 for up to an hour. Squirrel work itself is £280 fixed cost.
We report what was found and what has been soiled or damaged, so you know what needs attention once the roof space is clear.
Where the answer is a plumber or an insulation contractor we will say so rather than quote you for it. The price and the treatment are agreed with you first, never afterwards.
Our current price is £280 fixed cost. There is no call-out fee, and the figure is confirmed with you before anything is booked — never afterwards.
Our Squirrel Trapping cost guide explains what the price covers and what happens on the day, and every price we charge is published on the pest control price list.
Getting the animal out and leaving the loft as it is misses half the point. Soiled insulation has stopped working and an open contaminated tank is a problem in its own right.
