Small furry flies sitting on the wall near a sink or shower are not a hygiene failure in the room. They are breeding inside the pipe, and no amount of spraying the wall will reach them.
Drain flies, sometimes called filter or moth flies, are small, dark and furry, and they sit still on walls and ceilings near water rather than flying around a room. They breed in the organic film that builds up on the inside wall of waste pipes.
That film is the point. It is not dirt in the sink or on the surfaces — it is a layer inside the pipe that a cloth never touches, and it is a complete breeding medium.
Bleach runs straight down the middle of the pipe and past the film on the wall. It smells like action and does very little. What removes the film is physical — a long brush — and a biological drain product that digests the organic layer rather than rinsing over it.
Deal with the film and the flies stop, because there is nowhere left for them to develop. That is a genuinely permanent fix rather than a treatment that needs repeating.
We identify which drain is producing them, then deal with the film inside the pipe rather than the room around it.
Treatment covers the adults and the breeding site. You hear the treatment and the figure before anything is committed.
Our current price is £180 fixed cost. There is no call-out fee, and the figure is confirmed with you before anything is booked — never afterwards.
Our Fly Control cost guide explains what the price covers and what happens on the day, and every price we charge is published on the pest control price list.
Bleach down the plughole is the standard first attempt and it runs straight past the film on the pipe wall. It is not a question of strength — it simply does not touch where they are breeding.
