- Around rooflights, vents, flues and extract terminals
- Where services enter at high level — cable trays, ducting, condensers
- Around plant, walkways and access ladders, which both create openings and provide the route up
The Routes Up Are Different Too
- Mature trees, which institutional sites tend to have
- Boundary walls and fences running to the building
- Bin stores, cycle shelters and canopies against a wall
- Single-storey wings giving access to the main roof at eaves level
- Rainwater goods and soil pipes, particularly cast iron
- Scaffolding during any works, which is temporary and very effective
- Adjoining buildings in a terrace or a complex
Cable is why this is treated as more urgent than a house.
